The Best Blue Hawaiian Cocktail
This fruity Blue Hawaiian Recipe is perfect to serve at all your summertime luaus! No matter where you live, this boozy blue concoction will make your backyard feel like the tropics. In fact, sipping this sweet treat always brings me back to Kauai, Hawaii!
You can make it in a large batch for a Blue Hawaiian Punch that can be served in a pitcher or in a punch bowl for parties! That way, all your (adult) guests can serve themselves so you can mingle instead of playing bartender all night.
What Is It?
This boozy punch recipe is named after its beautiful color that looks like turquoise waters on white sandy beaches. It also features island flavors like orange, coconut, and pineapple, plus it’s spiked with rum.
Blue Hawaii vs. Blue Hawaiian: These are two different cocktails with some similarities, including their name. Both are made with rum, pineapple juice, and blue curacao. However, the Hawaiian contains cream of coconut and the Hawaii contains sweet and sour mix and sometimes vodka.

How To Serve
Short answer: with lots of garnishes!
As mentioned, I like to serve Blue Hawaiian Punch in pitchers or a big punch bowl filled so everyone can serve themselves. However, I set up a bar so they can prepare their drink exactly as they like it.
Most people like their beverages refreshingly frosty on a balmy summer day. So, I always equip the drink table with a shaker with ice plus an ice bucket.
That way, guests can either chill their drinks with the shaker or pour their punch over a glass filled with cubes.
You can serve this cocktail in any glass you’d like, but this gorgeous drink will look so pretty served in a tall collins or hurricane glass. And don’t forget the citrus slices, maraschino cherries, straws, swords, and umbrellas to make it extra festive!

Steps
Fill a cocktail shaker about 3/4 of the way full with ice.
Add in the drink ingredients and shake for 15 to 20 seconds.
Strain into a tall glass filled with ice and garnish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry. Serve with a straw.
Notes
- Coconut rum can be used in place of white rum.
- This recipe makes 1 Hurricane Glass or two standard glasses.
- For a large batch: Multiply all of the ingredients by 10, skip the shaker and add them to a large pitcher and place in the fridge until ready to serve over ice.
- Be sure to use COCO REAL Cream of Coconut and not coconut milk that comes in a carton or can. The cream is sweeter than milk and it’s thinner than the canned cream, so it’ll throw off the drink’s flavor and consistency if you use one of those instead. Pro Tip: You can find Coco Cream in the liquor aisle with the other mixers, either in the grocery store or right at Target.
- If you prefer your Blue Hawaiian frozen, simple add all of the drink ingredients (except the garnishes) to a blender with about 2 cups of ice and blend until a slush forms.
