Ways The Kids Can Help Make These Reindeer!

As a Mom, I’m always looking for fun holiday recipes that the kids can help with! Since these reindeer cakes don’t require messy ingredients or any baking, it’s a great one for kids to be involved with!

The kids can unwrap the Ding Dong Cakes and place them on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. From there have them sort out the M&Ms by color into small bowls.

Afterward, either you or the kids can adhere the pretzel antlers to the cakes. Just be sure there’s enough surface area left on the cake so there’s room for the face!

Then give them the freedom of creativity! Hand over the icing bag and let them make the reindeer faces using the candy eyes, chocolate wafers, and M&Ms!

How To Make Easy Reindeer Cakes

  1. Unwrap the Hostess Ding Dong Cakes.
  2. Adhere pretzel twists to the top of the cookies using cookie icing.
  3. Add dots of cookie icing to the back of candy eyes and then gently press them into the ecnter of the cakes below the antlers.
  4. Add icing to the flat side of a chocolate melting wafer and then adhere it under the eyes as the nose.
  5. Stick an M&M to the top of the chocolate wafer cookie with icing. Repeat this process for all of the remaining Hostess Cakes.

Storage Instructions For Reindeer Cakes

Place the assembled reindeer cakes in an airtight container. Store them at room temperature and enjoy them for up to 4 days.

After that, the cakes tend to dry out or go stale!

More Christmas Fun To Do With Kids:

Steps

  1. Unwrap the cakes and place them on a clean, flat surface.

  2. Apply cookie icing to the bottom back of two pretzel twists and adhere to the top of the cakes to create the antlers.

  3. Add dots of cookie icing to two candy eyes and gently press them into the center of the cakes just below the antlers.

  4. Add icing to the flat side of a chocolate wafer and then press it into the lower top portion of the cake.

  5. Stick an M&M to the top of the chocolate wafer with cookie icing. Repeat for the remaining cakes.

Notes

  • Let the cakes set for at least 30 minutes for the icing to firm up so the decorations don't slide off.
  • I do not recommend sticking the pretzels in the cake as it will cause the cake to crack and fall apart.
  • Use your favorite kind of m&m's.
  • The chocolate melting wafers can be omitted and you can just use an m&m to create the nose if desired.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, after that time, the cakes may start to dry out or go stale.
  • A small amount of melted chocolate may be used in place of icing to adhere the decorative ingredients.
