This Tootsie Roll Cocktail combines Kahlua with root beer, creating a drink that tastes just like an alcoholic tootsie roll! It’s refreshing, tasty, and will curb any sweet tooth with just one glass!

The inspiration for this cocktail comes from my and my husband’s favorite TV show, How I Met Your Mother. However, the drink flavor keeps us coming back for refills even though the show is sadly over!

Ingredient Notes

Mix up this Cocktail Recipe using just two ingredients! First, your favorite brand of root beer!

I love IBC Root Beer! It has a more traditional flavor yet is incredibly smooth thanks to the added vanilla. However, Barq’s, Mug, and even A&W would all go well in this cocktail as well.

The second ingredient is Kahlua, one of the most popular coffee liqueurs. If you’re not a fan of Kahlua you could swap it out for your preferred coffee liqueur.

How To Make A Tootsie Roll Cocktail

1. Add ice to your rocks glass.
2. Pour in the root beer and Kahlua.
3. Stir together and enjoy!

Can I Make These Drinks Ahead Of Time For Easier Party Prep?

I wouldn’t recommend it! The soda will lose its carbonation and the ice will melt resulting in a watered-down drink. These cocktails do come together super fast though so you won’t lose time with guests!
